Working On My British Accent…

Okay, I’ve never confessed this before, but I’ve always wanted a British accent…somehow it just makes everything sound so much more sophisticated. But since I wasn’t born in England, and since my mom refused to move us there (thanks a lot, mom!), I was forced to suffer through life with no accent at all.

But I've got something better than a wicked-cool British accent! That’s right, my friends:

Headine Publishing Group in the UK has just purchased the rights to publish The Body Finder and Desires of the Dead!!!!

And what’s even better than one foreign deal??? Two deals! So, yay France:

Both books will be coming out in French as well, courtesy of Pocket Jeunesse! (Tres bien!!!)

When I told my nine-year-old that The Body Finder was going to be published in England, she said: “You mean like, Chip Chip Cheerio?”

Yes, sweetie, exactly like that...only with a way cooler accent!

I lived in England for 2 years and have been back in America for a year. Being Southern and living in the UK has done wicked things to my accent. A lot of UK and US based people think I am Australian haha!
OMG Congratulations. That is AWESOME! I think maybe...to celebrate, we should see you vlog in the aforementioned accent? *bats eyelashes hopefully* Anyone else agree?

That's bloody brilliant(said with a british accent!) :P
Oh MY DEAR - SIMPLY SPIFFIING!!

OOOOPPS - WHOOPS-A-DAISIES...!

My marbles have just evacuated themselves from my oral cavity...
( I said ORAL cavity!)..mouth!

Well, all I can say as a TRUE LIVE BRIT is that, my American Friend, fish n chips are definitely NOT all they are made out to be. I have a typical snooty Brit accent and have been asked on many occasions from Northerners/Scottish if I:

"were born in Pakistan Lovey, cause ya speak relly weird-like"....

So when you say Brit accent, bear in mind that there are well over 50 different regional accents....a huge selection to choose from!

CONGRATULATIONS on being published there...we don't accept just anyone you know!

SHANNON made a SUPER-DUPER suggestion about the VLOG-thingy!!!! I was the NASTY BRIT who composed the poem she read at the end of hers....BUT with an APPALLING accent! SHANNON SHAME!
GREAT POST! THANKS!
SOmetimes when I...drink certain things, I have an English accent. And YES VLOG like a Brit!
Pam - I'm jealous, a Southern accent runs a very close second for me. Y'all.

Shannon - You have lost your flippin' mind. I saw your vlog. With the dress and the statue. While I laughed my a** off, I'm not quite ready to show how bad my "accent" would be. Bad. Very, very bad...

Ann Marie - I didn't even realize I'd have to choose. I want the one that makes me sound super snooty and better than everyone else. Like the queen. Or Hugh Grant.

Frankie - What kind of...things???

I literally JUST finished THE BODY FINDER. Like, ten minutes ago. You gave me quite the panic with the ending, and I'm home alone, haha.

Congrats on the foreign deal! I'm glad people will get to read it/them over there.

Congratulations!

Some of us impatient Brits have already read The Body Finder (US import) after hearing the online buzz. Currently rather popular at my library too!

Hope this fab news will get you even greater coverage in the UK (oh & in France too)!

Congratulations! This is so exciting!
Thanks, you guys! And, JEM, me reading it in French would be like trying to read it in Sanskrit, but anyone listening would probably get a good laugh out of it!
