My Weekend Round-Up

1) My daughter’s boyfriend graduated from the University of Washington on Friday. We were late getting there due to traffic, the ceremony was long, and it was stuffy in the venue. But I cried when this amazing young woman spoke about putting herself through college as the single mother of two, and I was inspired by how hard all of those kids worked to get to that day. Congratulations, Mat, we’re SO proud of you!

2) I finished FIRELIGHT by Sophie Jordan, and WOW. Just WOW! I was wondering how she was going to pull of the whole dragon ancestry thing (especially of the fire-breathing variety) but she totally did it. I LOVED IT!

But what’s even better than ME finishing FIRELIGHT??? I’m going to share the FIRELIGHT love. In July, I’m going to run a contest for an ARC of this awesome September release, so stay tuned!!!

3) THE BODY FINDER is coming to Brazil! I found out on Friday that Editora Intrínseca Ltda will be publishing the Portuguese language versions of TBF and Desires of the Dead in Brazil. So welcome to the TBF family, Editora Intrínseca!!!

4) And you wanna see something REALLY cool? My German publisher, Coppenrath, set up this AWESOME website for The Body Finder. I have no idea what it says (Sprechen Sie Deutsch?), but I LOVE the colors, the German cover, and the new title (Bodyfinder: Echoes of the Dead). Germany, FTW!!!

5) Last, and certainly not least, we had sun in the Northwest. Huzzah! You think I kid, but I totally don’t. It’s been a soggy, raining, gloomy mess out here and we’ve been in desperate need of some Vitamin D. This weekend temps broke 80, my daughter got a farmer’s tan, and I may have staved off Rickets for yet another year.

Now it’s your turn: How was your weekend???

I started reading a wonderful book this weekend. The Body Finder...unfortunately my children and the new computer I just got from ebay are keeping me from it right now. :0)

I had sun here too. But that's probably because I live in Vancouver which is pretty close to Washington.

I got a couple members of my family to read TBH and they are all converts to Team Jay! Just thought you should know.

Huzzah! Sounds like a fun weekend. Graduation speeches also get me choked up. This weekend saw the end of my self-imposed time away from the WIP, so I'm glad to be diving back into revisions!
That website is gorgeous! And sun, eh, it's overrated. We have tons of sun down here in Texas. I'm sure if you put an egg on my porch right now it would fry in a matter of minutes. But YAY for you. :) I'm sending warm, sunny day vibes your way!
I just came over from Kimberly Franklin's blog. Great interview.

I had a nice weekend because I had dinner with some good friends and the Celtics won last night.

Ummm... not as good as yours. :)

I did spend a while at the pool though. We have lots of sun here. And humidity. You're welcome to as much of that as you want!

Congrats on all the great things coming your way.

(and thanks for the shout out to Babs in your interview. What a huge compliment. You made my day!)

Congratulations on the wonderful news for The Body Finder! I'll trade you rain for TX heat. lol Outside of being with my wonderful hubby and kiddos this weekend, I got little sleep from staying up late reading two fabulous books-Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare and Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.

I hope a lot more sun come your way!!

I had the awesome pleasure of reading Firelight as well. And it was awesome!!!

My weekend kind of sucked and was kind of awesome. It involved funding for school, getting a new computer, and taking a friend to the hospital. I'm currently waiting for said computer to be ready for me to take home and introduce it to the rest of my electronics. I hope they play nice.

Aw, they make such a cute couple.
^__^

We had sun here, too, but it was hard to tell, since I was down in NYC for most of the weekend. (5 hour drive w/ a bunch of high schoolers, only 7 days after Chicago, with exams coming up . . . am I nuts?)

Phantom of the Opera goodies abound. (FTW)

I followed you here from Kimberly Franklin's blog. And now I'm sad I hadn't been following you before. Congrats to your daughter's boyfriend for graduating! That's big news, and very exciting.

And thanks for the Firelight recommendation. Dragons, you say? Sounds fabulous.
