A LITTLE HOUSEKEEPING...

I’m buried in copy-edits for Desires of the Dead right now, which is why I won’t be posting much this week, but there are a couple of things I thought I’d point out:

After a couple of suggestions (complaints) that the EVENTS section of my website was too hard to find, I had it updated…YAY! So, no more excuses about not knowing where I’m going to be over the next few months.

Speaking of EVENTS (see how I did that?), just a reminder to anyone in the Portland area (or surrounding states if you really love me), that I’ll be at the Cedar Hills Crossing Powell’s Bookstore this Saturday, April 3rd at 2:00PM! Please don’t let me sit at my little table in the store all by myself (probably crying!), COME OUT AND SEE ME!!!! As usual, I will have fun goodies to hand out!

For you lovely Canadians, I’ll be in Kamloops, British Columbia on May 15th at the wonderful Chapters bookstore. Again: No Visitors = Sad Author! So please stop in and say hi!

And can I just say how awesome you guys are? All of your Congrats comments and well-wishes were…well, AWESOME! This has been the craziest, most incredible two weeks of my life, and I feel so fortunate that all of you have shared the ride with me!!!

Now, I’ll see you all in Portland, right??? ;)

MY RELEASE DAY (in pics)!!!

I promised to share, so here it is, my release day picture post!

First, I woke up to a lovely gift from my hubby:

Isn’t it adorable (the bracelet, not the ring. Or the veins...the veins are not adorable!)???

And then we were off to scout bookstores. But here’s the thing, I wasn't prepared for how excited I would be to actually see my book on shelves. I knew it would be cool, but there was still a part of me that was sort of doing it because it was the-thing-to-do. So when we walked into the first store and I saw it…REALLY SAW IT, I may have screamed. Like a little girl!

Here’s my first official photo op, because, yeah, I just couldn’t contain myself…

And here’s my trying to be a little more…adult about it.

We hit a few more stores, signed some stock (and, yes, my ID was checked, because apparently that’s a big problem, people walking into stores and offering to sign random books!), and then hit The Cheesecake Factory for the mother of all desserts...and some food, too.

Afterward, we stopped at one more bookstore, where TBF was shelved front-and-center! (OMG, look at all those great books surrounding it!):

And I tried not to lose my frikkin’ mind again:

3, 2, 1...RELEASE DAY!!!!!!!

I can’t believe that today is actually THE DAY!!!!! After waiting forever, it’s finally here, and more than anything I just want to thank you guys, ALL OF YOU! Your support and comments have meant more to me than I can tell you…I seriously have the best group of followers (friends) ever. EVER!!!!

So, what am I doing this momentous day??? The kids are skipping school and we’re going bookstore stalking, and maybe hunting for the perfect dessert, what else? (I’ll share pics later!)

I just want to remind you all that if you live in the Seattle/Tacoma area, you should come down to my book release party this weekend, it’s gonna be (as the kids say) off-the hook! Okay, the kids don’t really say that, but it totally will be!!!

Where: BORDERS (near the Tacoma Mall)
When: Saturday, March 20th at 2:00PM
What: Books, Fun, Food, Prizes

I know not everyone can make the party, but you can still do some things to make the launch of THE BODY FINDER a huge success:

- Buy THE BODY FINDER!

- Tell everyone you meet to buy THE BODY FINDER. Word of mouth means EVERYTHING!!!

- Review THE BODY FINDER and post your reviews on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Good reviews are even better ;)

- Give THE BODY FINDER as a gift to the teens (and adults) you know. Books make GREAT gifts!

- If it’s not at your local bookstore, request it! (From what I hear, bookstores love to sell books so I'm sure they'd be happy to oblige.)

- Recommend THE BODY FINDER to your school or public library and ask that they order it for their shelves.

- Blog about THE BODY FINDER or me or both.

- Use THE BODY FINDER in your book club.

- Oh, and did I mention you should buy THE BODY FINDER???

Seriously, you guys, thank you so much for everything! You rock!

MEET KRISTIN WALKER, A Deb-Tenner!

Today is kind of a sad day for me…it’s my VERY LAST Debs’ Interview. Like THE BODY FINDER, Kristin Walker’s book, A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL, was “relocated” from 2009 to 2010, giving us each dual-citizenship in the Debs and The Tenners (which is awesome, btw…who wouldn’t want to belong to two of the coolest author groups in town???).

So, here’s the deal, everyone I know who’s read A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL says the same thing: It’s hilarious! And not your regular, run-of-the-mill hilarious, but laugh-out-loud and pee-your-pants hilarious. And who doesn’t want to pee their pants??? Okay, maybe I don’t want to pee my pants, but I do love to laugh until it hurts.

About A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL:

When a mandatory marriage education course forces Fiona to “try the knot” with super-jock Todd Harding, she’s convinced life could not possibly get any worse. Until moments later, when her long-time crush is paired with her arch-enemy (otherwise known as Todd’s obscenely hot, slightly sadistic girlfriend). But that’s nothing compared to her best friend’s fate – a year with the very shy, very goofy, very big Johnny Mercer.

A series of hilarious pranks and misunderstandings leave Fiona wondering: is there something her supposed “best friend” hasn’t told her? Could there be more to Johnny Mercer than a deep voice and an awesome music collection? And perhaps most intriguing of all, is it possible that Todd Harding could actually have a heart – and a brain – beneath his pretty-boy exterior?

Now, it’s time to meet Kristin Walker (I linked her name because she has one of my favorite websites!):

1) Would you rather be the Bestselling Rockstar Author or an Acclaimed Literary Award Winner?

Bestselling Rockstar Author. I have absolutely no literary aspirations--I know my limitations. My ultimate dream is to become the Stephen King of young adult novels.

2) Make people laugh, cry, or hide under the covers?

Laugh. I've already made way too many people cry or hide. *cue the violins* I also tend to lean a bit too far toward melodrama.

3) Retire early or just keep writing from your beach house(s)?

I'm on board with anything that includes me owning a beach house. Keep writing.

4) FaceBook or MySpace?

Facebook. But I have a MySpace, too.

5) After a period, one space or two?

One! How much time to you think I have? Plus, there's my laziness to consider.

And your bonus question: What ONE WORD of advice would give to any aspiring writer?

ENDURE

(I LOVE THAT ANSWER!!!!!!!!!)

TRAILER TUESDAY (and a special thanks!)

The Body Finder has been getting some mad-love lately, and one of the places it's come from is Kepler's Books in the Bay Area. Not only did they write this fantastic review on their YA blog, The Book Bind, but now they've put together this incredible, live-action book trailer for The Body Finder:

Can I just say...WOW!!!!!!!!

And, do you know how I found out about it? A Google-Alert!

Best. Freakin'. Google. Alert. EVER!!!

So, a HUGE thanks to Kepler's, and especially to everyone involved in putting this film together...YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

And if you want more TBF, you can check out James at Book Chic reading the Prologue!

This is going to be so fun...thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!

WANTED: THE BODY FINDER STREET TEAM!!

Do you LOVE free SWAG???

Are you passionate about YA books???

Do you want to be a founding member of an exclusive Street Team???

Oh, and did I mention the free SWAG???

If you answered YES, then have I got an offer for you!! I’m on the lookout for 25 devoted YA enthusiasts to join my exclusive TBF Street Team. No, this isn’t The Body Finder Club, those memberships ran out a LONG time ago…this is something else entirely!

As the launch date for The Body Finder gets closer and closer, I’m looking for an elite group to help me spread the word about my debut novel! You don’t even need a BLOG to participate, just a love of free SWAG…and of course be willing to make a virtual pinkie-swear. :)

Here’s how it would work:

First off, I would send you your official TBF Street Team care-package which includes signed posters, signed bookmarks, and two kinds of TBF stickers. Once you get your package, my hope is that you will pass out some of the SWAG at your school, or library, or your favorite bookstore to see if they might be willing to hang a TBF poster. If they can’t, that is totally fine because, hey, at least you tried!! The only other requirement would be to pass out some bookmarks and stickers to at least 5 teens you know (and if you are a teen, how easy would that be???). In general, you just have to be willing to say “Check out this book, doesn’t it look good?” Or, better yet, if you’ve read it, how about something like…“This book rocked!” (TBF Haters need not apply.) ;)

So, what’s in it for you???

First, not only do you get to call yourself an official TBF Founding Street Team Member (and how cool is that?!?!), but I’ll also send you your very own The Body Finder Totebag. Oh, that’s right, I said TOTEBAG! And I’ll personalize one of the posters just for you!

And here’s a BONUS for those of you who either have a copy of The Body Finder, or plan to buy one when it’s released. If you manage to get a TBF poster hung up at your school, library, or bookstore (and send me a picture with you in it), you can send me your copy of The Body Finder and I’ll sign it for you (I'll even pay for the return shipping!).

Sound like something you’d want to do? Okay, so here’s the deal, if you’re interested, leave a comment WITH your email address. THIS WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO THE FIRST 25 TO COMMENT (U.S ONLY), so hurry! I’ll also be Tweeting this, so as soon as I reach my 25 Street Teamers, I’ll update the post.

This is all on the trust system so if you decide to just get your SWAG and roll around in it *laughing evilly*, that’s fine too because I’ll never even know. Or will I??? I’m just saying that I may or may not have secret spies everywhere!! :)

I’m excited! Are you excited????
