In Honor of My Pre-Release Jitters: A GIVEAWAY!!!!

It's less than a month now till THE LAST ECHO hits shelves, and I have reached that stage where I'm both nervous AND excited...nerv-cited!!!  On the one hand, I can't wait for you guys to read it, and hopefully love it as much as I do.

But...then there's always that other side of me, the doom-and-gloom side that starts whispering in my ear (in a very Eeyore-like voice): What if no one reads it? What if everyone hates it? What if no one wants to be your friend???

Fortunately, I have tools for dealing with that nasty little voice. Things like chocolate. And shopping.  And, as weird as it sounds...GIVEAWAYS!!!

So in honor of the approaching release date, and the fact that a giant box of these...

just landed on my doorstep, it's giveaway time! (and if you've read an early copy of THE LAST ECHO, you already know why this nail polish is so creeptastically awesome! If not, you'll just have to wait and see.)

Here's the deal:

You'll have through Saturday to Tweet, comment, "Like", and pre-order your way to one of several prizes, three of which include signed ARCs of THE LAST ECHO, nail polish, and swag packs. The other five are THE LAST ECHO swag packs including the nail polish!!!

What do you have to lose? I mean besides the chance to win this one-of-a-kind killer nail polish!!!!

And don't forget to check out my EVENT'S PAGE to see if I'm coming to a city near you :)

Why Kirkus is my new BF...

Sometimes a girl needs to be pinched! Like when she passes her driver’s test on the first try. Or when the boy she likes (finally!) asks her to the big dance.

Or when Kirkus gives her new book a good review!

Okay, the last one may have been more for me (or rather THE LAST ECHO) but it's still very pinch-worthy!  And YES, Kirkus, I will go to the dance with you!!!

I mean, just look what they said about THE LAST ECHO:

Seventeen-year-old Violet returns in the third installment of the Body Finder series, this time working for a secret agency that specializes in using paranormal powers to fight crime.
For the first time since she learned that she is drawn to the locations of murdered dead bodies, Violet feels less of a freak. Although she doesn’t understand all the paranormal abilities of her crime-fighting teammates, she feels as though she fits with them. However, she still loves her normal boyfriend Jay, so she worries about the strong physical response she feels whenever she touches Rafe, a member of the team. Meanwhile, Violet doesn’t know she’s become the target of a terrifying serial killer. As in previous volumes, Violet continues to reject simple safety precautions and hides all her worries from her parents. Her personal irresponsibility does not cause the danger when the killer attacks, however, and she demonstrates maturity and courage, assisted by a few doses of deux ex machina, when she fights back. She finally emerges as a mostly sympathetic heroine, even with the flaws that Derting often highlights. As always, this author writes a gripping tale, although she takes her time getting to the final conflict. Personalities come across quite strongly, as several of the characters tend toward the eccentric.
With another sequel set up, this intriguing series continues to provide great entertainment for suspense fans. (Paranormal suspense. 12 & up)

So I’ll admit, I may have honed in on that whole “gripping tale” and “intriguing series”, but honestly, can you blame me?

Seriously, somebody pinch me!!!

And to my new boyfriend, Kirkus, you can pick me up for the dance at 7:00!  ;)

Sooo, I hear this a lot: Is THE LAST ECHO the last book in the BODY FINDER series?

What in the world would give you that impression???  Could it possibly be the use of the word “last” in the title? Is it the foreboding sense the title gives that someone might die...maybe even Violet (which sort of, by default, would end the series I suppose)?

I mean, c’mon...it’s just a title.  It’s not like the book is called THE FINAL ECHO or VIOLET WILL DIE, or anything.  Am I right? Now, those sound like the end of a series!

But in all seriousness, THE LAST ECHO is most definitely not the last book in the series.  If it were, I probably wouldn’t already know the title to the fourth book, which I do.  It’s going to be called....

(Actually, I can’t say yet, unless I want to feel the full wrath of HarperCollins…which I totally do not. But I love that you thought I might tell you!)

Now some of you already knew all of this. And if you’ve read an early version of THE LAST ECHO, you’ve probably figured it out anyway.  But I kinda have to admit it might’ve been a silly move on my part to give the book a title that makes it sound like the last one. So, why did I do it?

Honestly, it was just a line from the book.  I struggle with titles, so when my editors and I were brainstorming, this line came up and it fit. Really well. And we all loved it!  But clearly, we never really thought it through since we all knew there would be at least one more book after THE LAST ECHO.

And after that…who knows?

No really, I don’t think anyone knows yet.  :)

Oh, and for those of you keeping track...ONLY 37 MORE DAYS!!!!!!

Title AND Cover Reveal!!!

So, I have this book coming out next January...some of you may have heard about it, the second book in the Pledge trilogy???

I've known the title for, like, forever. And I saw the cover ages ago too. But I haven't been able to share either of them with you guys.

Until now...

Just some of the things I love about this cover:

1.  It's the same model from The Pledge.

2. The red! Dear lord, the red!

3.  I love her expression. She looks fierce.

4.  Did I mention the red?!?!

So...I'd love to hear what you think...

Love it? Hate it? Want to cut it out and plaster your walls with it (or is that just me)???

(And look! You can add it to your Goodreads shelf here!)

Friday Fun...

Enjoy this video of me making a fool of myself as I read from Josh Berk's awesome new book, Guy Langman, Crime Scene Procrastinator.  (Berk is a sound effects master. Clearly ;)

Happy Friday, everyone!!!
