AFTER THE END Blog Tour (Truth or Dare!)

Welcome to the AFTER THE END blog tour!

Amy's Truth or Dare

This is one of Amy's special author-hosted Truth or Dare stops. (The truth-or-dare theme is particularly relevant to AFTER THE END, since Juneau's oracle has said she has to tell the truth or she won't find her clan.) I opted for "dare," giving Amy the mission to ride this merry-go-round:

while wearing a tiara and waving an American flag.

Amy's response: "I actually didn't think this dare would be a problem - I borrowed a tiara from my 6-year-old daughter, printed off an American flag and taped it to a paintbrush, and booked it over to Trocadero with some friends to take the pictures. But once I got there, paid for my ticket and put the crown on I was feeling pretty stupid.

And then, by the third time around I had lost all sense of pride and started enjoying it...

They basically had to tear me off my horse and force me to take off the tiara once the ride was over. Okay, not really. But it wasn't as bad as I had feared. In fact, who knows...maybe I'll go back and do it again next week. P.S. Never ask Kim Derting to give you a dare. She had WAY too much fun thinking this one up!" And now, on to the juicy info about AFTER THE END + prizes!

About the Book

By: Amy Plum, Published by: Harper Teen, hitting shelves on May 6, 2014 Pre-Order from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Indiebound Find out more about the book

World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness.
They′e survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact.
Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she′s trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

One amazing reader made this awesome THE TAKING themed necklace for me, complete with alien and fireflies!

And of course, everyone rocked the alien headbands:

You're Invited to THE TAKING Book Launch!!!

I can hardly believe it's 2014 already, let alone April! But it is, and that means THE TAKING is almost here! And for those of you who don't already know, THE TAKING kicks off an all-new series about a 16-year-old girl who disappears one night and is returned five years later, yet she hasn't aged a day.

THE TAKING officially hits bookstores on April 29th, but is available for pre-order NOW! (See below for all the ways to order signed books and get free stuff!)

To celebrate the release, we've planned a launch party at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 26th at the Barnes & Noble in Federal Way, the same place where the café named special drinks after DESIRES OF THE DEAD and THE PLEDGE. We'll have prizes, goodies, and of course, lots and lots of books! And because the launch party is April 26th (three whole days before the actual release date!), you can get your copy of THE TAKING before anyone else! How cool is that?!?! (Answer: So cool.)

And if you're not in the Seattle area, I will be heading out on May 1st to the following cities: Salt Lake City, San Diego, Oklahoma City, Dallas, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, and New Orleans. For a full listing of bookstores, dates, and times, check out my EVENTS PAGE. If you're in the vicinity, I'd love-love-love to see you!!!

If you're just too far away from my tour stops, but you still want signed copies of THE TAKING, you can order personalized copies from the following stores BEFORE I arrive:

Or you can get signed-only copies from:

And for those of you who've already ordered your copies, or who prefer ebooks or audiobooks, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you! The Hunt Is On...The YA Scavenger Hunt, that is!

It's that time again! And if you've made it this far, I probably don't need to tell you this is the YA Scavenger Hunt! But in case you don't know, we're doing a round-up of what’s coming up in YA  literature that runs from April 3rd through April 6th (Which just so happens to be my birthday. Coincidence? Yeah...probably).

Each author on the hunt is hosting another author’s bonus material (mine is out there on someone else's blog!) AND a link to the next step of the hunt.

At each of these steps, you not only get exclusive content from one of the authors, but you'll also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize--one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the entire team! But play fast--this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are TWO contests running simultaneously, and you can enter one or both! I'm part of the RED TEAM--but there is also a blue team, which gives you a chance at winning an entirely
different sets of books!

Directions: Below, you'll notice that I've listed my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the red team, and then add them up (don't worry, you can use a calculator!).

Entry Form: Once you've added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian's permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by Sunday, April 6th (aka. my birthday!) at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

Today, I am hosting Jessica Shirvington. Jessica Shirvington is the author of the bestselling EMBRACE SERIES, with the final book EMPOWER coming out in the US in May 2014.

Also in 2014, her first stand alone novel - ONE PAST MIDNIGHT - is set for release June 22 in the US and UK (this book is also known as Between the Lives in Australia & NZ). A full time author and mother, Jessica lives in Sydney, Australia with her family.

About ONE PAST MIDNIGHT: For as long as she can remember, Sabine has lived two lives. Every 24 hours she Shifts to her ′other′ life - a life where she is exactly the same, but absolutely everything else is different: different family, different friends, different social expectations. In one life she has a sister, in the other she does not. In one life she′s a straight-A student with the perfect boyfriend, in the other she′s considered a reckless delinquent. Nothing about her situation has ever changed, until the day when she discovers a glitch: the arm she breaks in one life is perfectly fine in the other.

With this new knowledge, Sabine begins a series of increasingly risky experiments which bring her dangerously close to the life she′s always wanted... But just what - and who - is she really risking?

Find out more information by checking out her author website or find more about ONE PAST MIDNIGHT here!

For Jessica's exclusive content she's sent us a sneak peek at the preface for ONE PAST MIDNIGHT to enjoy:

I am a liar.
Not compulsive.
Simply required.
I am two people. Neither better than the other, no superpowers, no mystical destinies, no two-places-at-one-time mechanism – but two people. Different in ways fundamental, even though at the most basic level I look the same. My physical attributes, my memory, and my name follow me. For the past eighteen years, everything else, everything, about me is different. Twenty-four hours as the first version of me. And in the blink of an eye, twenty-four hours as the second. Every day, without fail, it goes on.
I’ve never told anyone. By the time I was old enough to figure out everyone didn’t have two lives – by the time that little shock settled in – I didn’t know where to begin. How to begin. And society, both of them, didn’t want to know.
When I was a child, I didn’t realize I was different from everyone else. But I’m pretty sure I’ve always been this way – this two-lives way – which means I was probably born twice, was a baby twice. No surprise I’m glad I can’t remember that. Being torn from one set of arms and thrust into another every twenty-four hours? Well, it doesn’t matter how much they love you … Can anyone say issues?
Practice makes perfect though, and I like to think of myself as a pro. I’ve ironed out the kinks; identified the major pitfalls and how to avoid them. I manage. I know who I need to be in each of my lives, and I try not to confuse my brain with the “infinity questions” anymore.
I’ve learned to accept that in one life I love strawberries, while in the other my tastes buds cringe at the flavor. I know that in one life I can speak fluent French, but even though the memory of the language comes with me, in my other life I must not. Then there are the easier things to remember, like Maddie, my gorgeous little sister in one life, and my not-so-great big brothers in my other.
Above all else – though I try not to think about it – I know which life I prefer. And every night when I Cinderella myself from one life to the next, a very small, but definite, piece of me dies. The hardest part is that nothing about my situation has ever changed – the only thing I can be certain of is that my body clock is different from everyone else’s. There is no loophole.
Until now, that is.

Don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Jessica Shirvington, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 4! Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the red team and you'll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

To keep going on your quest for the hunt, you need to check out Jessica Brody, the next author whose site you need to visit!

And because I love giveaways, I've decided to do an additional (completely separate!) giveaway, so you have even more chances to win!

Just fill out the Rafflecopter below, and bam!, you're entered to win a signed ARC of my April release, THE TAKING, along with a bundle of sweet TAKING swag!!!
